| QUESTION: When I run the PR-Tracker setup program I get the following message:
Setup cannot continue because some system files are out of date on your system.
Click OK if you would like setup to update these files for you now. You will
need to
restart windows before you can run setup again. Click cancel to exit setup
without
updating system files.
After I OK update of the system files and reboot, I
still get the same error message. How do I get PR-Tracker setup to work.
ANSWER:
If PR-Tracker setup does not work on your computer it
usually means there is something wrong with your computer system. There a
two known system problems that can cause this error.
1) The computers temporary directory is not on the system
drive.
2) There is more than one version of MSVBVM60.DLL (or MSVBVM50.DLL) on your
computer.
To check for condition (1) do the SET command from a
command prompt dialog. This will list the setting of all environment variables on your
computer including the TEMP variable. TEMP must point to a directory on the same drive
that Windows is installed on. Instructions for correcting this setting are in this Mircosoft
Knowledge Base Article.
To check for condition (2) right click My Computer on your
desktop and select Find. Then search you computer for MSVBVM60.DLL. There should
only be one copy of this DLL on your computer. On Windows 95/98 it should be in the
Windows\System folder. On NT/2000 it should be in the WINNT\System32 folder. Delete any
other copies of MSVBVM60.DLL. Same applies for MSVBVM50.DLL.
WORK AROUND:
One work around which may work for
some computers is to do the following steps:
1) Copy SETUPPR.EX_ to SETUPPR.EXE (do not rename).
2) Copy SETUP.LST to the Windows directory (may be named WINNT, WIN95 or something else)
3) Run SETUPPR.EXE |
