PROBLEM:
I currently have PR-Tracker setup on a network running in client-server mode. PR-Tracker works fine on all the computers except one of the Windows XP computers. These are the symtoms.
1) I start PR-Tracker and connect in client-server mode. The Connect dialog goes away and the Problem List dialog comes up for a second and then PR-Tracker shuts down.
2) On the client computer, in the PR-Tracker folder under Program Files the following files exist:
prtrackerdb\prtracker.key
prtrackerdb\example\example.cfg
3) The file prtrackerdb\example\example.mdb does NOT exist as expected
For some people EXAMPLE may be DEMO.
ANSWER:
PR-Tracker is crashing when trying to create a cache for the database on the client computer. This crash is caused by an MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) corruption. To fix the problem, go to www.microsoft.com and download MDAC 2.8 or higher. Then install it on your computer. This may require you to reboot the computer. After that everything should work fine.
